2009-The Year in Review

Now that 2009 is behind us, I thought I would take a few moments to review the year that just passed.
The year started with us off in Africa visiting Erin and her family in Tunisia. The trip began with us flying out of Philly early in the evening on Christmas Day and touching down in [...]

Christmas Day 2009

After church, my family (Mom, Casey, Katie, and Alex) came over for Brunch. We had our traditional holiday fare of baked eggs, pork roll, bacon, and sticky buns (If Dr. Miller is reading this, I abstained from eating any of this food which is not so good for my blood pressure/cholesterol [...]

Christmas Morning 2009

Santa came to the McMenamin house and the kids made out really well. We didn’t get out of bed until 7:30 ish and we hung around in our pj’s until it was time to head off to mass at 11:15. My mom came over as soon as we woke up to watch the [...]

Christmas Eve 2009

We spent our traditional Christmas Eve with Jean’s family over at Mike and Dot’s house.  All her brothers and sisters were there with family, so it was a full house (23 of us).

In previous years we’ve had seafood or roasts as the main fare, but this year we went with an Italian [...]

Report Cards Came Home

Congrats to all three of our little scholars. Friday was report card day and grades for the first trimester were outstanding.
Brett doesn’t get graded like the bigger kids, but he did very well. The only surprise was that the self-titled “Math Genius” only got a grade of VG in math, not O like we [...]

Our Karate Kid

Saturday was Brett’s first karate test of the year.  He started taking a class after school one day per week, and we weren’t really sure if he was getting much out of it.  Every time we asked him how it was going, he wouldn’t give us much of a response.  We’re used to that behavior [...]

Not Your Everyday Christmas List…

Here’s the little man’s 2009 Christmas list.  I don’t think you’ll get the image if you’re reading this on Facebook, but you can see the actual list in his handwriting over on our blog.
For those that can’t decipher his writing, it reads:

Xbox 360
DSI (Nintendo handheld game)
Spy Gear
Ipod Touch
Mario Cart 4 DSI
Laser Tag
A TV 4 my [...]

RIP Ginger

November 6th saw the passing of Ginger, our pet guinea pig.  We got Ginger back in September of 2006, so she holds the distinction of being the longest living pet in our household at a mere 3 years and 51 days.  I guess that statement sums up the fact that we shouldn’t be responsible for [...]

Halloween 2009

I’m really behind in keeping up with our pictures, but here are the kids costumes from Halloween.  Brett was a robot, with a costume he designed and made on his own.  His buddy Liam is a gorilla.  Abby and her best friend Meghan went out as babies.
Jake was sadly too cool to get dressed up.  [...]

All Saints Day

Here’s some video of Brett giving his St. Thomas speech for the All Saints Parade at Sacred Heart on October 30th.  You can’t really make it out to well, but his prayer partners (Jake and his friend Timmy) are holding up his St. Thomas sign.

I can’t do subtitles, but for those who need help understanding [...]
