Conflicting Events?

Is there anything worse than having two events planned for the same night?  As busy as our lives are, Jean and I don’t usually have big adult type plans lined up on the weekend.  We usually chase the kids around the soccer fields of Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties all day and then chill out [...]

Jean at Karaoke

Jean was involved with the planning and setting up of Karaoke night.  It was a beef and beer with the added excitement of the Karaoke machine.  All proceeds from the night are going towards new computer monitors for the school.  I don’t personally understand the obsession of singing songs to all of your friends, but [...]

Jim at the Whitman’s

From the Sly Fox, I was off to Brad’s house to get together with some friends from high school.  Brad lives in Pottsgrove, so it’s only a 15 minute drive up Swamp Pike to his house.  I was looking forward to the night because it’s been almost two years since I’d bumped into anyone.
It’s the [...]

The Far Post

After a 3 month break, my adult soccer league started back up.  We play Thursday nights at the Far Post, which is about a 10 minute drive from the house. It’s indoor soccer and the games don’t take place until later in the night, usually after 9 pm and wrapping up around midnight. [...]

Soccer, Jake Scores, A Shot to the Head, & Another Cheetah Party

As always, the weekend revolved around soccer. I was able to move Brett’s game for the weekend to Thursday night to help lighten our weekend load, but Abby still had three of them and Jake had two.
Saturday started early, with Brett’s team picture at 8:30 am. From there it was back to the [...]

Dealing with Asthma

This weekend brought some exceptionally hot weather, with temperatures approaching record highs for this time of year.  Saturday’s temps were in the high 80’s, while Sunday’s high reached 92.  Couple that with some stifiling humidity, and it made for some uncomfortable weather.
The combination of heat and ragweed in the air affected Abby the most, and [...]

Back to School Night

Monday was Back to School Night at Sacred Heart, which is what I like to refer to as “Meet the Teacher Night” because that’s really what we end up doing.  Sacred Heart is a small community, and it really is refreshing to see how hands on everything is.
Abby’s is in a class of 14, Brett [...]

Block Party

Saturday night was the block party in our neighborhood.  There was one two years ago when we first moved into the neighborhood, but for whatever reason we never got around to having one last year.  This year Jean was involved in the planning, and we managed to squeeze it into our crazy schedule.
We ended up [...]

Brotherly/Sisterly Love

Jake and Abby are both playing CYO soccer this year for their school/parish, Sacred Heart.  The teams are split up by age, Jake plays Varsity (which is 7th & 8th Grade) and Abby plays Junior Varsity (which is 5th & 6th Grade).  They both practice on the same field twice a week, with the Varsity [...]
